Born in Erlangen, Germany and raised in Vermont, Connecticut and Chicago, Illinois – Alan moved to Steamboat Springs in 1997 after graduating from the University of Denver with a double major in Political Science and Environmental Science. Alan went on to receive an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Resort Management from Colorado Mountain College.
With a background in the hospitality industry, Alan has held several management positions in hotel operations, food and beverage, timeshare resort operations, vacation rentals and community association management. Alan holds the certifications of Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA), Association Management Specialist (AMS) and Colorado Community Association Manager (CAM).
With his wife, Alan has two children and enjoys skiing, paddling rivers, biking, travel, writing and exploring the great outdoors. Being out in the field ensuring your assets are protected and maintained is a fundamental component of Alan's role at Simply Steamboat. Alan is responsible for providing leadership to the Simply Steamboat staff, ensuring the organization is performing as expected, management of the various HOAs, and motivating the team to deliver exceptional service to owners and guests.
JJ kick started his management career in the restaurant industry after graduating from CSU in Fort Collins with a Bachelor's degree in Restaurant and Resort Management. He continued his education by pursuing and achieving a Master of Management Practice degree right before being hired by Hyatt Hotels. Hyatt moved JJ to Monterey, CA where he managed a staff of 75 union employees in four different restaurant outlets. He spent four years in Monterey and enjoyed hiking through the red woods, surfing, scuba diving and learning about (drinking) wine. Most recently, JJ has spent the last 2.5 years as an Owner Liaison for Mountain Resorts here in Steamboat. He was part of a team that managed five HOAs, 315 condos, and 50 short term vacation rentals. This experience for JJ has been a whirlwind of growth that has led to becoming a more skilled and diversified individual.
JJ has also become a homeowner in Steamboat and a member of an HOA. He feels his experience as a homeowner combined with his knowledge of customer service will provide an understanding and effective perspective that will, hopefully, result in you getting the service that you expect. He is here to be a resource, a point of contact, and a partner as we pursue goals that are related to your investment, rentals or your homeowner association.
Maria was born and raised in Finland, but has called Steamboat Springs home since 1996. She has been in Property management for 20+ years, most recently before Simply Steamboat as the Reservations Director and Assistant General Manager at Trappeurs Crossing for Wyndham Vacation Rentals. Maria brings in a wealth of knowledge with sales and reservations, but also vast overall knowledge of Vacation Rentals. Her college degree from Finland is in Tourism, Travel and Foreign languages.
When not in the office, you will find Maria hiking and biking with Finn and Luka, her two sons. She also enjoys skiing, yoga, live music and anything outdoors. Travel is high on her list also, especially with all her family still in Finland.
Our housekeeper extraordinaire hails originally from the Yampa Valley, and is full of local knowledge because of her upbringing. Sam and her team dedicate their hard work to our guests’ and owners’ comfort. Every day they are “behind the lines” making sure each property is perfectly presented for guests of Simply Steamboat. We are lucky to add her wide array of experience to our team, and know she truly enjoys her role in making your vacation dreams come true.
Away from her time at Simply Steamboat, Sam takes the phrase “work hard, play harder”, and runs with it. Growing up around some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world has inspired a passion for large the network of rivers in this region of the country. She frequently takes extended trips through the area’s many wonderful rivers, leaving cell service, emails, and most creature comforts behind in exchange for a vacation that focuses on adventure and the rafting and kayaking community. If you bump into Sam while staying at one of our properties, be sure to say hello; if you’d like to hear more about her adventures, or any of the rivers in the West, just ask. She’d love to chat about it!
Although born in Seattle Washington in 1980, Josh is a Steamboat local through and through. Moving to the Yampa Valley just one year later with his family, Josh has explored passions for fishing, hiking, and playing hockey from an early age. Although our beautiful community keeps calling him back, he has also been lucky enough to live in many different areas around the western United States. Just a couple of these stints include studies in fire science in Couer d’Alene Idaho, and seven years of work with a Hotshot crew in the Idaho Panhandle. Other hobbies that developed with Josh’s time in the mountains include snowmobiling and riding his motorcycle on the winding country roads.
Living in Steamboat does require some work to get by, and Josh has found his niche in various roles in maintaining properties all over the mountain village area. He enjoys meeting new people each day while on-site in our portfolio of properties, and loves to chat about life and its adventures, while keeping our spaces and their functionality at or above their original luster. With over 14 years of dedicated maintenance experience, 11 of which have placed him a management role, Josh is the go-to expert when it comes to the proper upkeep of your property.
Originally from Illinois, and after bouncing back and forth between Steamboat Springs and the front range, Alex found his permanent home in the Yampa Valley. With a background in hospitality and tourism, Alex has a passion for providing excellent service to guests. When he's away from work Alex enjoys skiing in the winter, hiking in the summer, and cooking year around. Alex is the face and voice behind the front desk operations. As the Guest Service Manager for Simply Steamboat – he manages the organization’s command center while continuing his professional development in the areas of HOA management and resort operations.
Originally from Northwest England, our head housekeeper, Anne has been an employee of Simply Steamboat since 2008. Moving to Steamboat has allowed her to experience the outdoors in a whole new way. She and her husband Pete enjoy skiing, rock climbing, and hiking through the desert and canyons, activities she admits were absent from her childhood in England. Her attention to detail and dedication to her profession are a priceless benefit to the company. With Anne at the helm, homeowners and guests arrive to find their homes pristine and perfectly prepared for any and all guests.
Pete came to Steamboat in the winter 1989, stayed for the summer and hasn’t left since. For the past 27 years he has been a staple of a downtown ski shop. After many summers working for Simply Steamboat, he was persuaded to join us full time as our Maintenance Manager. When he isn’t at work in the summer, you can find him in his shed working on projects, in the vegetable garden, biking or rock climbing. In the winter he will be out skiing, alpine and back-country, and watching English Premier League soccer.
Jenna comes to us from the Peach State of Georgia. After graduating from the University of South Carolina, Jenna opened her own photography business where she specialized in wedding, family and real estate photography. In 2014, she decided to take a sabbatical and travel to Steamboat where she worked on a guest ranch and fell in love with this beautiful town. After the season had ended and she traveled back east to see her family, the valley called her back home as it does with most. When Jenna isn’t helping you book amazing condos, she enjoys her photography, hiking, happy hour with her friends, and of course her sweet partner in crime – Coco Bean.
