Our favorite places for gifts in Steamboat

It is once again time to start the frantic dash we call “Christmas Shopping.”  We at Simply Steamboat thought this would be a fantastic time to highlight a few of our favorite gift shops, all of which are perfect for a bit of last minute shopping.

 Steamboat Art Company

Steamboat Art Company is a seemingly magical boutique located on Lincoln Street that specializes in local artisan gifts and handcrafts from all over the globe. Showcasing Peruvian sweaters and handmade toys, this shop has something special for everyone on your list this year. Owners Ashley and Melinda hand pick their inventory, ensuring that every trip to their downtown shop is an entirely new experience. So stop in and say hello to the Art Company crew, but don’t forget your wallet. We guarantee you won’t walk out of this shop empty handed.

F.M. Light and Sons

F.M. Light and Sons has a history that nearly stretches as far back as Steamboat itself. F.M. Light packed up his family in Ohio and moved to Steamboat Springs in 1905, stopping only twice along the way, bringing his wife and seven kids along with him. What he saw and learned in that journey sparked the development of his men’s clothing store. Initially he and his sons traveled to ranchers, selling them the finest apparel available at that time. Their road signs have pointed the way to this Steamboat gem for over 5 generations, and the store has stood as an historical landmark, surviving the Great Depression. F.M. Light and Sons stills sells high quality apparel and accessories, items that are rivaled only by the history attached to the store front itself. Bring the family to Lincoln Street to experience this local treasure. You’ll know you have found them when you see Lightning standing tall and proud, keeping watch over the locals.

Off the Beaten Path

This local bookshop is without a doubt one of the coziest and well stocked locally owned bookshops in all of Colorado. These folks don’t just sell books, they are true patrons of literature offering insightful critique of a variety of writings. Stepping inside you feel transported. Bustling Lincoln Street has been replaced by a tranquil space full of café tables and a reading loft. You won’t be able to resist the temptation to grab a hot drink and crack open a book. They also carry a selection of gifts and greeting cards for those near and far that deserve a souvenir. In a world of e-readers and laptops, isn’t it nice to receive a beautiful and tangible memento from a loved one?
