Here in Steamboat, summer just ended and fall just kicked off with the always fun and festive OktoberWest event. Craft beer and microbrew connoisseurs gathered together to get their ooompah on, Steamboat style. If you weren’t here in your Simply Steamboat luxury condominium for the weekend, you can still treat yourself to some brewery fun whenever you’re in Steamboat Springs.
Craft beers are all the rage in Colorado and around the country. If you’ve recently had contact with a can of Budweiser we urge you to read on and try the craft brews that now are showing up in the funkiest cans. And if you’re craving a craft crawl while on your Steamboat vacation? Then belly up to the bar at these fine establishments and give craft cans and droughts a try.
Depending on how your vacation is going, you might want to try a can of Mother’s Lil’ Yella Pills at Old Town Pub. Take two and call us in the morning! Or try the “Milk Stout” at Carl’s Tavern, a Nitro beer from Left Hand Brewing company. We’re thinking you could swap it out for the regular “milk” served with Carl’s hot out of the oven chocolate chip cookies. Or if your “Modus Hoperandi” (Ska Brewery) is to check out craft cans, give that brew a try at Carl’s.
And, of course, there’s the tried and true Alpenglow brewed (and served) by Mahogany Ridge along with their other smooth drinking brews. Can’t decide on which one to indulge in at Mahogany? Ask for the beer flight and sample several. At Mahogany, even the kids can join in the crafty fun with house brewed Root Beer! We also can’t get enough of their Bavarian inspired twisted homemade pretzel. This treat perfectly pairs with any of the house made brews and we highly recommend going for the upgrade and decking your pretzel out with the porter and cream. There might not be a lot of room for dinner after that, but if you’re still hungry or just can’t resist the creative cuisine at Mahogany, definitely dig in to the dipping menu. Everything on it is HOP notch.
Simply Steamboat tip: get there early, Mahogany Ridge’s happy hour is probably THE best in Steamboat. The happy hour is short and sweet, 4:00pm-5:30pm with $1 selected appetizers and great deals on the hand crafted beers. If you’re late to the party, they also have a late night hour!
Be on the lookout for local craft brewery, Butcherknife Brewing. They’ve been brewing around town since 2006 and have opened a beautiful brewery and tap room in 2012 that all everyone can enjoy.
So, HOP on over to Steamboat and be sure to put the BREW back in ski on your Simply Steamboat Vacation. Brewski, get it? Silly joke. We know.
